Best Spring Crops in Fields of Mistria: Profit Math and Layout Tips

Updated 2026-08-27 · 6 min read · Guide Team

Every spring crop ranked by real profit per day, with the math for Turnips, Potatoes, Cabbage, and Strawberries, plus field layouts that line up with charged watering can upgrades and a full 28-day planting calendar.

Spring Crops at a Glance

Spring seeds come from the General Store (and Balor's Wagon when stocked). Two crops — Carrot and Peas — only appear on the shelf after you repair the General Store, which matters for the calendar below. Prices and growth times:

CropSeed PriceGrow TimeRegrowSell Price
Turnip25t4 days-40t
Potato40t6 days-75t
Cabbage70t9 days-180t
Carrot40t6 days-80t
Strawberry300t5 days3 days125t
Peas300t5 days3 days135t
Daffodil15t4 days-25t
Tulip20t6 days-30t

Wild options like Chickpeas, Lilacs, and Snowdrop Anemones can also be grown from foraged starts; they sell modestly but cost nothing to acquire, and Snowdrop Anemones are requested by Elsie early on, so keep a few in a chest.

The Profit Math: What Actually Earns

Single-harvest crops should be judged on profit per tile per day, not sell price alone:

  • Turnip: 40t sale − 25t seed = 15t profit over 4 days ≈ 3.75t/day. Low ceiling, but the fastest cash turnaround in the season — perfect for days 1-10 when you are broke.
  • Potato: 75t − 40t = 35t over 6 days ≈ 5.8t/day. The best all-round single-harvest spring crop available from day one, and you get 3 free Potato Seeds from the "Greet the Townsfolk" quest.
  • Cabbage: 180t − 70t = 110t over 9 days ≈ 12.2t/day. The single-harvest king of spring. The catch is the 9-day timer: planted after roughly Spring 19, it will not finish before Summer kills it.
  • Carrot: 80t − 40t = 40t over 6 days ≈ 6.7t/day, but only once the General Store is repaired — by then you usually have better options.

The takeaway: Turnips bootstraps, Potatoes scale, Cabbage banks big payouts mid-season. Flowers (Daffodil, Tulip) are weak sellers — grow a handful for gifts and crafting, not for income.

Strawberries and Regrowing Crops

Regrowing crops change the math completely because the seed cost is paid once. A Strawberry planted on Spring 1 first fruits on day 5, then re-fruits every 3 days: harvests on days 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, and 26 — 8 harvests × 125t = 1,000t against a 300t seed, for 700t profit per tile over the season (25t/day). Nothing else in spring comes close.

Peas behave identically (135t per harvest, about 780t profit per tile over a full season) but require the General Store repair, so their realistic window is shorter — still profitable, just less spectacular. The practical rules:

  • Buy Strawberry starts as early as you can afford them; every week of delay costs you two harvests (250t) per tile.
  • Plant regrowers in a dedicated block you never re-till — tilling destroys the plant.
  • A Strawberry bought after about Spring 12 will not pay for itself before Summer; switch late-season money into Cabbage or Turnips instead.

Field Layout and Watering Efficiency

Layout is really about your future watering can. Charged tool areas scale by tier: Copper waters a 3×1 strip, Iron a 3×3 block, Silver a 3×6 strip, and Gold a full 6×6 square. Plan around that:

  • Worn can (week 1): keep plots small and rectangular, 12-24 tiles. Watering one tile at a time is your stamina bottleneck, not gold.
  • Copper tier: arrange crops in rows of 3 so every charged swing hits a full strip.
  • Iron tier and up: restructure into 3×3 blocks with one-tile paths between them. Nine tiles watered per charge is the point where large spring fields become comfortable.

Other efficiency notes: rain waters everything for free, so check the forecast and spend rainy days in the Mines or fishing. Leave chest and shipping-bin access near the field to cut walking time. And hold back a corner of the farm for flower and wild-crop experiments — requests and the Museum will ask for them eventually.

A 28-Day Spring Planting Calendar

A sample season for a first-year player, assuming the General Store repair lands mid-season:

  • Days 1-4: 12-16 Turnips plus the 3 free Potato Seeds. Sell the first harvest, reinvest immediately.
  • Days 5-9: Shift to Potatoes as budget allows; buy your first 2-4 Strawberry starts the moment a harvest payout covers them.
  • Days 10-15: First Cabbage block (plant by day 15 at the latest for a safe day-24 harvest). Keep expanding Strawberries with surplus cash.
  • Days 16-19: Last call for Cabbage (day 19 plants finish day 28). After day 19, only 4-6 day crops are safe.
  • Days 20-28: Turnips and Potatoes only. Harvest everything by the 28th — spring crops die when Summer begins, so never plant anything that cannot finish.

Count growth days carefully: a crop planted on day X is ready on day X plus its grow time, and "ready on the 29th" means lost. When in doubt late in the season, Turnips' 4-day cycle is the safest final plant.

💡 Pro Tip

Strawberries are the spring profit king, but only if planted early — a Spring 1 start yields eight 125t harvests (700t profit per tile), while a Spring 13 start barely breaks even before Summer wipes the field.
